The Surf Excel product range spans four distinct formulations: Easy Wash Powder for general-purpose stain removal, Matic Liquid for automatic washing machine users, Quick Wash Powder for water-conscious households, and Liquid for delicate fabrics including silk and wool.
All Surf Excel products are developed at HUL's R&D Centre in Bangalore — the largest consumer goods research facility in Asia outside China — and manufactured at BIS-certified plants across India, including facilities in Silvassa, Assam, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand.
In independent laboratory testing, Surf Excel Easy Wash was shown to remove over 100 stain types in a single wash, including turmeric, curry, grass, blood, oil, grease, ink, and chocolate. The brand's patented triple-action formula — combining surfactant action, enzyme power, and optical brightening technology — remains the most comprehensively tested laundry system available at a mass-market price point in India.
Surf Excel products are available across 5 lakh+ retail outlets in India, including kirana stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and all major e-commerce and quick-commerce platforms.
As part of HUL's Clean Future sustainability programme, Surf Excel is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2039 and transitioning to 100% recyclable packaging by 2025.
